To celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee a Street Party was arranged on the Park. Malcolm, Alex, Ben, Simon and Ted worked diligently planning the event. Our owners always enjoy a good party something for which Merlewood is renowned for. These family events always attract all ages.
On Saturday 4th June 2022 over 150 people including children attended. “Willow Crescent” was closed off for the day as most of the tables had been set out on the hard surface to give more of a feel of a street party. The afternoon was filled with fun, laughter, games, food, drink and plenty of dancing. DJ Darrel entertained the crowd throughout and brought the afternoon to what we all thought was a close with everyone singing along to “Rule Britannia” which was followed by the “National Anthem”.
That turned out to be just the end of Part 1. Part 2 was about, to begin with even more dancing including dances requiring group participation such as “The Conga”. The snake of people slowly made its way around the upper part of the Park. The afternoon eventual drew to a close around 6 pm with many owners resuming festivities on their verandas whilst enjoying the evening sunshine. A brilliant afternoon was had by all.
